Not that I've ever heard of.
-
NO, but I like it.

Nice paint job. Looks very well maintained from a cosmetic / interior & exterior view. The engine looks like its never been touched - old ign wires, etc... The seating arrangement is similar to what I have - the center back & bottom cushion of the bench seat come right out for ease of boarding the swim platform - very handy. Also a nice snug place for a cooler ;) The port/stbd portions of the bench seat, albiet small, stay fixed so you can still sit in them.
The price is right if it checks out mechanically ;D

And if that engine has never been touched I don't think it's no 300HP.
-
Nope... probably a 351W (not Cleveland) with 250 hp, but Ron or Dan would know better. Regardless, if the "mechanics" (engine, throttle, steering, prop, rudder) and electrical wiring are still in decent shape then the price is right. From what I can see in the pics it looks to be sound.
Wouldnt be another one like it IN THE WORLD that much is certain :) I just love having a car & a boat that are somewhat RARE :)

I am planning on going to pick up this boat this coming weekend.
-
Fantastic!! Keep posting and let us know what you find :) Good luck!!!

Sweet, you decided to buy it? Are you planning on keeping it for a while?
-
If everything checks out I will be buying it. Yeah I do plan on keeping it for awhile, this will be my first boat purchase. Im in the same program as Ron's son at the University of New Orleans, so it really came down to buying an MC, who I intern for, or an American Skier and have someone that knows everything about them just a short distance away.
-
That's cool, its a small world after all

Here is a link that has a bunch of pictures of the boat. http://www.orionmarine.com/pre_owned_detail.asp?sid=09402124X6K28K2011J7I27I42JAMQ6430R0&veh=2181397. (http://www.orionmarine.com/pre_owned_detail.asp?sid=09402124X6K28K2011J7I27I42JAMQ6430R0&veh=2181397.) Im very excited about this purchase!
-
Cool, yeah that does look like a pretty good deal. I hope it works out!
-
It looks VERY cool... I'd pay particular attention to all the mechanical & electricals (of course) but especially the paint job... is it a qualilty job with good adhesion or does it show signs of bubbling, flaking, etc... and does the paint extend below the waterline??? If so, you could have issues down the road. We have a guy on here (Mike Harry) who just finished painting his & it looks great :) He may be able to give ya some pointers on what to look for... Ron & Dan as well :)
Good luck!!!

I believe the buyer attends college with my son Steven, both Naval Architect & Marine Design Students, I guess I better keep my parts room locked up when Steven comes home on weekends ;D

Unfortunately the boat is a dog. The dealer that has it for sale decided he would lie about the condition of the bottom, and when we went to look at the boat, after a 3hr. drive from the lake, we found that the boat had been bottom painted with anti-fouling. Ran away from that as fast as we could. So the search continues...anyone in the Michigan area want to sell their boat this weekend??
-
Sorry to hear that!!! Fortunately, there are quite a few AM Skiers for sale. How many are near Michigan is another story... Keep looking - you'll find her!! ;D
-
Hey MIskier, check out my favorite link: http://boat.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/boat.cgi (http://boat.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/boat.cgi) then type American Skier then go. Looks like there are a few boats in your area. An 88 Advance in what looks like great shape and 97 Lazer.

MIskier
I was on Gun Lake (Shelbyville, MI) this weekend and saw a ?88 advance for sale. It looked pretty clean and was on a American Skier trailer also very clean. I didn't dig into it too deep, but it did look like the owner took care of it. Remember it said 601 or so hours, but I don't have the phone number with me. I think they wanted $6500 for it. If it is close to your range, let me know and I can find the number (I was considering it myself). I will also look on jaxed to see if its listed there.

Well I found a beautiful Ski Nautique with under 400 hours on it and just couldnt let the deal go. Yeah I had called on the boat in gun lake, they will actually take 6K for the boat. Black boats on the lake that we live on just dont do well because of the mineral content in the water.
-
My wife's family lives on Lake Shannon near Fenton, MI. They have mineral issues as well as weed issues (lake is too damn shallow, but makes for great skiing).
As I frequently call my brother who owns a Nautique.... now your a "Nautique Geek"... LOL!!! Seriously, your still welcome here!!! Boats are boats... and people who are dumb enough to own a boat are all welcome to congregate on this site ;D
Hope your new boat is a beauty!! Be sure to post some pics!

Well here is the boat that I ended up buying, sorry it took so long to post pictures of it. It is a 1986 2001 that was sold on consignment for the original owner. I'm very happy with my purchase...but would have really liked to have been able to find a nice American Skier.
-
Nice looking 2001 ;D
-
But is it coming down to the Bayou?? my boys need some ski-buddies???
-
Not heading to the Bayou...but im down to ski whenever and wherever!
