Title: Winterizing - MDCs
Post by: RonT on December 18, 2009, 02:23:55 PM
For those with MDC controlled instruments, don't forget to CAREFULLY remove the speedo hoses from the MDC before it freezes! The hoses can get stiff around the hose fitting at the MDC & tends to break off if not careful when removing. However hoses that are left on will trap any moisture in the sensative pressure transducer & will crack from freezing. Some have added Tee fittings (1/8" ) with short pieces of hose that is removed or capped so the MDC doesn't have to be disturbed.

After my little Medallion incident I switched to an analog speedo.  Just too easy to break the nipple off plus I just don't like the idea of water pressure on a membrane inside an expensive little computer.
