If John doesn't want it, you should keep it for your boy.  It's been about 20 years since I've been on one, and I remember it being a hell of a lot of fun.  I'll find one sooner or later, now that I've got the boat, I've got the bug...  Have a good trip.  You might even decide to put it on and jump out there on it yourself!
