Wakeboards

Guys,  I'm looking for two wakeboards - one adult (I'm around 205 lbs) and one child (100 lbs).  Need the whole set up - boards & boots.  I have vests, gloves, lines, etc.  Not looking for anything extravagant (read EXPENSIVE) but need some decent equipment in good shape since we are just starting out on wakeboards.

I have found that the most versatile "board" for our family and friends has been a wake skate.  No bindings, no worrys about size, not wicked face plants.  My wife even likes it.

Like a wakeboard but with no bindings but a bit smaller. Kind of lake a big skateboard. I like the wood ones with a grip tape top. Shoes are a necessity if you get a grip tape top. You get up on one very similar to a wakeboard. You can find one just about any where you would find a wakeboard. Search on youtube.com for wakeskating and you'll see plenty of footage. Wakeskating is really fun even when your just learning you don't have to be good to really enjoy it. It's a great feeling just riding a board without being strapped in.

I never can do this. Well, I've only tried it twice and both times on a wakeskate. Actually, I just tried it again yesterday. I sit on the wake skate and once we start to accelerate a little bit it always starts bouncing like crazy. Like riding a bull. So I can never get up to speed to begin with..

You start on a wake skate the same way you do on a wakeboard except you hold it to your feet and as soon as the boat pulls the rope tight and you start moving forward the water pretty much holds it there till you get up.. I dig wakeboarding a little more . You can get a few nice ones from Academy sports or find a shop that can fit you. 200 plus pounds needs a 140 cm or bigger 100 pounds 138 cm or smaller.. not too much smaller though..

No, I know how to wakeskate, that's pretty much all I do. I retired the wakeboard a few years back and picked up wakeskating. What I can't seem to figure out is how to get up on a wakeskate and turn it into a barefoot run. I was told you start by sitting on the board. I can get going but once we start to pick up speed the board starts to oscillate a lot.

skootch your weight forward @ about 15 mph, your bouncing because your weight is way too far back on the board
